Engine stalling out on the way home on the highway, pull over after repeted loss of power. Plug in OBD-II bluetooth thingy, pull the codes, 3: one for cat converter, one for egr valve, one for misfire on cyl 3.

Get back onto hiway and the remaining 20 miles to work warehouse, drop off coworker ( riding in the back seat because I took out my front passenger seat). But some spark plugs on the way home & installed when I got there. I'll need to clean up the egr valve soon & install new cat hanging in garage.

This thing needs a overhaul.

If changing the spark plugs fixed your misfire, just clear the code for the catalytic converter and keep using the car. The raw fuel getting dumped into the exhaust will overwhelm the converter and generate the code. Unless you drove for a long time while you were down a cylinder, you converter is probably fine.

the converter has about 125k miles on it, it was a weld in replacement from before I bought it. Its been burning oil, not a lot, but some. So its probably clogged some or something. Egr valve keeps getting clogged probably because of some oil blow by. The air cleaner housing constantly has oil. But it still gets 37+ mpg, so keep going.

Edit, not sure yet if it fixed it, but it worked last time, about 20k miles or so ago
